This case for the old style iPod Nano works just fine. As a bonus, it was quite inexpensive, possibly because that Nano is no longer available from Apple as a new product.
Ive had this case for about 2 1/2 years now and it is beginning to tear apart:( it scratches easly but only if it fall or something major like that! a swipe of you finger to the screen wont do anything!!! is case is VERY impressive!!! two and a half years!!! I DEFINITELY recomend you buy this case!!!!! TALK ABOUT DURABLE!!! p.s. ive dropped this case about 20 times! no sign of major MAJOR damage:)
I bought a blue iPod, so I wanted a clear case to show the color, and also one that would protect the screen. This one suits my needs while being very lightweight. My one complaint is that the case is severely scratched after only a few weeks of ownership. I carry my iPod in my pocket with my cellphone and Chapstick. It never goes near any keys or anything. So it must be my cellphone which is scratching it. There are hundreds of tiny scratches making parts of the screen hard to read, especially when the backlight is off. But it serves its purpose of protecting the iPod transparently.

I own an Ipod 4G and already had this clear Belkin case on my ipod, however I have owned it for two years and after wear and tear, the case is now all scratched up. I just wanted the same product new out of the package to replace the old one. My complaints are not with the product itself because it has served its purpose very well. When I received the product, it came in its original packaging, only when I went to use it, the actually case was not new. It is badly scratched and already worn, so much so that the case that has been on my ipod was in BETTER condition than the new product I purchased.

This case works great for my 4G iPod Nano. It completely covers the iPod including the screen and the control wheel. The control wheel is covered by a very thin flexible layer of plastic, so it is difficult to tell it's even there and doesn't affect use. The only bad thing I have noticed is that there is a small hole to provide access to the lock/unlock switch on top of the iPod, and the plastic around the hole is relatively thick (maybe 1/4"). This makes it hard to get at the switch; I have to use my pinky fingernail at an angle or a pencil. This is really just a minor annoyance though. This case is superior to my last one which I paid over $20 for at Walmart, and I would definitely recommend it.

Just like people have said it is good and does the job but it is hard to use the lock button at the top and you need use your finger nail or your little finger to slide the lock feature

Other then that it is a very good case

I struggled for 15 minutes trying to open this case. No instructions. Some kind of tab thing near the top that doesn't seem to do anything. Does it slide, open like a clam, something else? It's so fragile I'm afraid to pull too hard.

In the end it seems you just pull it apart at the open end. It's tricky to get back together once the iPod is in. You have to line the invisible edges up just-so. Get it wrong and you dump your iPod in your lap.

I wanted something I could easily and quickly get my iPod in and out of because I also use it in an armband and this case is too big to use in the armband. This will almost certainly break within a month. Not good value at all.

I would keep looking if I were you - I know I am.

I converted from the zune, for which I had a similar case from Belkin. I love this case. I didn't want to scratch up my new iPod and also when I went running in the cold, something in my iPod would contract that would make the battery meter drop and the iPod would turn off. When I got home and it warmed back up, it would turn back on and have nearly full battery. I wanted something to insulate a little bit to keep that from happening too. This case does both jobs well.
I had read a few reviews from people claiming it didn't fit their iPods. It's for 4TH GENERATION IPOD NANOS. NOT 5TH. And no, they're not the same. The 5th has a larger screen and smaller control pad.

I thought Belkin was a good company, but this case is cut in a way that does not let me access the bottom of the trackwheel and so I cant turn my Ipod off. Absolutely useless and a waste of the $19 I spent. Do NOT buy this product.

So i open the acrylic case and put my new ipod nano in there and the circle to change songs and volume doesnt match up to the one on the belkin case..i mean shouldnt they test to see if the ipod fits correctly in it before the money grubbing workers send their product out..nope just ship it out as soon as they can wether the product is right or wrong....i highly tell you to not buy this product..i hate it but it does protect the ipod but it doesnt line up ..

I wanted something that was very sturdy and competley covered all aspects of my 16GB Nano. This does it. The only parts exposed are the hold switch and the data and headphone jack. It fits very snug so there is practically no movement. I notice no difference when using the click wheel, even though it is covered as well. Some reviews have said it is tough to switch to hold mode, but even though I would classify myself as having short fingernails and "pudgy" fingers, I have no trouble. A very good design and very worth the price.

In my opinion, this is the BEST acrylic case for the Nano. It fits snuggly, and protects all but the syncing port. I like the fact that the top is covered (unlike the Griffin iClear cases). As others have mentioned, the hold button is a bit hard to operate since I have large fingers, but manageable using my pinky, and worth the minor inconvenience to have the top fully protected. The case snaps together securely, and is easy to pop apart thanks to a tab at the top back section of the case. So far I have never had the case come apart unintentionally. It also has extended nubs at the bottom outer edges that help protect the Nano's bottom, while still allowing access to the sync and earbud ports. Rather than docking my Nano, I use the mini-plug port to plug it into my home and cars stereos, and have had no problems with any mini-plug I've used with this case. While a bit on the pricey side, this is a high-quality case that instills confidence that the iPod is completely protected. The one oddity I have encountered is a rainbow effect across the screen while wearing sunglasses, but I believe this effect would happen with any clear acrylic case. I only hope that Belkin continues to make this case for my new Nano 5th generation.

Although the case itself is very strong, trying to get the case to stay together when your ipod slips out of your hand, disconnects from the headphones and plummets to the pavement is a difficult thing. It is a strong case but the design to hold it together in one piece needs work....

At first I was hesitant to buy this case after seeing a decent amount of generally negative reviews online, but in reality this case is completely adequate. It fits well without adding very much bulk, in fact the slight bit of added girth is helpful, since the ipod itself is quite tiny. The screen shows perfectly well, and the click wheel works perfectly fine through the case, in addition to having that area of the ipod covered unlike most cases where it is open and can catch grime.

As many people have said, there are a few little potential problems: The opening at the top of the case giving access to the hold button is a bit small, though this is because of the size of the ipod itself and not really something the case design could have addressed any differently. If you've got big fingers you might need to use a pinky, or just put your finger in space at an angle instead of trying to cram it in there straight on. It really isn't a large issue and shouldn't discourage anyone but very large fingered people who use the hold button very often.

The biggest problem is that the ipod won't fit in a dock while the case is on. And for the same reason, certain headphone jacks might not be able to reach into the headphone hole in the bottom of the ipod. But standard sized ones work perfectly fine.

So while fat fingered people who like to use a dock all the time and like large, old headphones, this case is no good, but if your fingers are normal, you use normal headphones and you don't use a dock all that much like myself, the case is perfect.
This product fits the Nano very tightly and the access to the controls works very well. The protection in your pocket from scratches is great. The only thing is it is kind of difficult to get it to snap together.

This case fits my iPod 4th generation (blue) nicely. It has two pieces... the front and the back. The case is hard and durable. I've removed my iPod from the case after a few weeks to see how the iPod is looking and there isn't a scratch! The only parts of the iPod that are exposed are the lock switch on the top left and the connector/head phone jack on the bottom. There are "hooks" on the bottom that prevent the iPod from sliding out of the case. I've even went with a different car radio transmitter so that I could use this case (some transmitters require that any case be removed in order to use the docking mechanism). Worth the $$ to save wear and tear on the iPod.

I like this case, it covers the iPod entirely, even the wheel. It is made of hard acrylic, and the wheel is covered by a soft plastic, so you can operate it even with the wheel covered and protected.
I recommend it.

if you are worried about scratch on your ipod when you put it in your pocket or in your bag, this is good protector. i bought a clear skin and it looks good. i love it.

It is very hard to assemble it and the circle part doesn't fit, so when you press it, it clicks twice. It becomes very hard to use my ipod after putting this product on! Do NOT buy it unless you have too much money!!

I first saw this product on Belkin's site when looking for cases. I initially thought it was all metal, because of the image on the website, and didn't read the details about it being acrylic. I consider this to be misleading: why would anyone care about having metal detail on an acrylic case? It doesn't seem like it would be that much more protective, especially since it's only on the front...

Anyway, my experience with the sensitivity is vastly different from the rest of the users it seems. With the case on, I had difficulty in getting the iPod to recognize my finger. I would say detection was about 75%, which is really quite bad, because a high accuracy is necessary for the scrolling to work well. I cut out the membrane with an exacto knife and am glad I did so, since I can now select the playlist I want without any fuss.

The area protecting the screen has become heavily scratched. When viewed at certain angles, there is a LOT of glare that diminished the visibility of the screen. This is a pretty big problem. I don't know how hard it would be to have some sort of anti-scratch coating, or how expensive it would be, but I thought this should be brought up as a major issue for future buyers.

Previous reviewers have mentioned difficulty accessing the hold button. This is true. Actually, I find that it is slightly exacerbated by the fact that there is a tiny amount of vertical clearance that allows the iPod to shift inside the case somewhat. So it is possible to reach for the hold button only for it to slide farther away. I don't understand why there is so much thickness to the case at the top end. I have no problem accessing the connectors at the bottom, but I don't use a dock, so I can't speak to that issue.

All in all, I use the case so that my iPod doesn't get damaged/scratched in my pocket or when I drop it. Still, I would gladly have payed double the price for a thinner, non-scratch forming, better membraned case. But I guess there's not as much market for those kinds of things.

This is a hard plastic cover. It makes my ipod nano look glossy and new. It's a little difficult to put on and off (which I do often to place it in my radiostand)but it's well worth it. I don't have a single scratch on my nano and I've had it for 6 months now.

My 3rd clear plastic case, and Belkins is the best I've seen. Membrane over click wheel is responsive and provides excellent protection. Much better engineered than the Agent 18 cases I've used before, and they're very good. Get this one.

Great case, no complaints. Perfect for keeping in your pocket. Covers and protects the nano, while giving you access to all the controls and the ability to plug it in. Case comes apart easily, but doesn't fall apart.
(Source: www.amazon.com)
While the Remix Metal for iPod nano 4G does the job of protecting both the controls and screen of my new iPod, I do have one problem with it. There are no instructions in the package as to how to open the case. There is a small tab on the upper right back portion of the case. This I'm sure makes it less likely to pop open at a critical moment, defeating the purpose of the case. Unfortunately without instructions, it's difficult to know how both pieces connect. In the process, the "metal" cover on the case peeled off. While it doesn't change the fact that the case protects the iPod, it's gone from the Black case to a Clear one.
