This bag was recommended to me by a friend and while initially unsure if it would fit my needs, I am glad that I purchased it. I have used it while hiking, biking or just as an everyday camera bag. I currently only carry a camera(w/lens), an extra lens, flash and extra batteries. The interior of the bag allows for various storage configurations. There is plenty of room to carry another large lens so I will not have to retire this bag when I add to my gear. I do not see the need to carry much more equipment that what will fit in this bag. The messenger style top flap makes it very easy to access my camera quickly and easily. Due to the Velcro and buckle, I do not feel as if my equipment is not secure when closed up. I like the amount of padding in the bag, it is not overly padded and bulky yet still does a very nice job protecting my equipment.

Great quality, good price...this is a great bag!

Plenty of room for camera and multiple lenses plus accessories. The flap can make access a bit tricky when wearing over the shoulder but it's workable once you adjust to it.

I bought this for my Nikon D 40 x. I easily cary the camera and two of my lenses (the basic and a telephoto a few cleaning supply and even my batery charger.I love it. The size is perfect and it looks good too.

I am a retired marine biologist with an interest in photography. I am in the process of acquired quality photo gear and the Tamrac 5534 bag is well suited to my needs. The size, shape, and quality of construction are assets that I will enjoy for many years.

I was looking for a similar bag to my worn out ICON Bag. This Tamrac Bag is excellent but not exactly what I wanted. My old bag was smaller but I still had room for camera, telephoto and had compartments for my digital cards. The person I ordered from gave me excellent details and I have no complaint with the company.

This is great for me - I have a dSLR and two lenses, plus a few accessories. Add a lens and you'll need a bigger bag. So much more convenient than the bag my camera came with. It's slim and I can walk down the aisle of an airplane and not have to turn sideways anymore. Lots of padding too. Would definitely recommend.

I just got my bag in the mail today & loaded my gear into it a few minutes ago! As far as I can tell, I'm going to love this bag. I bought it primarily for a trip to California we'll be making next month, we'll be doing some sightseeing & I needed a better way to fly & then drag my DSLR all over the place than the big bulky "Canon" bag I got with the "starter kit". My goals for this bag were for it to be slimmer so I could wear it in a "cross-body" fashion, sufficiently padded, have a comfortable strap, and be lightweight but organized. I can't answer the comfortable strap question yet (I'll let you guys know after our trip to CA), but it passes the rest of the requirements well. It's a slimmer bag so when I wear it cross-body style it doesn't stick out huge off my butt & bounce around while I walk (getting a funny mental image?). It's lightweight but has plenty of pockets for my stuff. The only reason I rated it 4 stars is because, like other reviewers have mentioned, the flap the comes down over the top is only very lightly padded - & that's where the screen of the camera is facing up! I wish they would have put a bit more padding there, but after all (as another reviewer also mentioned) there's little chance something will hit it hard enough to matter right on top of the bag.

Overall, I think I'm going to like it. I'm definitely keeping it. I fit my Rebel XSi with an 18-55mm on it, a 55-250mm lense and a 50mm prime in there & I think I'll still be able to get a small external flash in there too, although I don't have one at the moment. Hopefully soon :) I also fit the battery charger & spare caps in the front zipper pocket, and there's still a ton of room in there. I could easily get spare batteries, my cell phone, change purse, or whatever in there if I don't want to carry my "real" purse around with it. I only wish my laptop was small enough to fit in there too 0.o

This bag is a great size for me. I have a D50, with an extra lens and a few accessories. Everything fits well, and the organizer system inside the bag keeps everything in it's own little compartment.

The bag looks good overall, more of a business casual. Not too formal, but not loud and obnoxious.

The one "complaint" I have, is that I wish the top of the bag had a little more padding. The rest of the bag is nice and thick, and the top flap, is a bit thinner. Albeit, likely nothing will every make contact with the top of the bag, but since the rear face of my camera is up there, I would like that tiny bit more protection.

Otherwise it's a perfect bag for me.

This bag is nice. Its a little smaller than I thought. It holds everything I need to carry when shooting as long as I plan to only take what I need. If you have a lot of zoom lenses they may not all fit properly.

All in all this is a good bag. Next time I buy a bag I will most likely upgrade to a bigger bag.

I a new Nikon D5000 and needed a camera bag for it. After a lot of looking and research, I settled on the Tamrac Adventure Messenger 4 DSLR Camera Bag (Red/Black). It is a BIG bag, so if you are looking for something little this is not it :D. I really like all the little Velcro movable walls to customize the compartments. I can fit my camera with a small lens on it, and extra telephoto lens, a charger, a lens cleaning kit, and still have room for more all in the main body of the bag. The outside pockets have tons of little compartments nad pockets that can hold all kinds of batteries, memory cards, pens, cell phone, and tons more. I have only had this for about a month, but i am happy with it so far. It has been trucked around with is several times and has held up and protected my equipment well.

I had a Tamrac bag for many years that I loved and needed to replace. This was the closet to my old bag, but after buying it I returned it. Several reasons. First and most important, the inside is poorly designed because the top velcro strips are too high on the inside of the bag. This forces the camera to sit up too high. Second, the dividers themselves do not allow enough flexibility. In my old bag, I could keep my camera with lens sideways, whereas this bag forces you to put the camera with the lens down. Third, the material is stiffer than it needs to be. There is enough padding to allow for a little smoother material. All in all, a disappointment.

I use this on a daily basis with my D-SLR, extra lens and other accessories. (Could also fit my Camcorder in it as well.) Nice product.

Very nice bag, but if you have a larger DSLR (Canon 50D) or similar, you will want to buy a larger bag if you want room for extra lenses, etc. I still like this bag for short shooting trips, without a lot of extras along, one lens plus necessities. Other than that, it is a very high quality product.

I've use this bag for my entry level SLR, and it fits the SLR, lens, battery packs and instruction booklets with plenty of room to spare. I could probably fit another tele-lens in here if I had one. I was disappointed that my JOBY Gorilla Pod doesn't fit very well, but I was able to fit it diagonally in one of the pockets. There are a lot of velcro connectors inside the bag which makes it very flexible, but it's not very easy to design or move these velcro straps since they get stuck to the sides of the inside and don't want to move. My only other complaint is that the snap-clip is a unique shape that isn't very easy to match together. Other than that, I love the design of this bag (I got the camo/black version) and it gets me and my camera where we need to go.
This bag is actually better than I expected, especially for the price I paid. The innards can be laid-out to suit your needs. Me? I set it up to handle my Sony DSLR with an extra 70-200mm lens, my Lumix LX3, and lots of batteries, SD cards, chargers, etc. It does the trick very nicely and I find it comfortable.

The reason I bought this type of bag is I was tired of the options of my other bags. I either carried a small bag that didn't handle my DSLR or an oversized backpack with my MacBook Pro which weighed too much and was too hot. This bag fits in between my other bags carrying cameras and lenses but not laptop and large accessories. Furthermore, it keeps my gear off my back so I don't get hot and sweaty. Nice.

The only oddity of this bag it the top handle. Not the shoulder strap but the briefcase type handle. It's off center along the back edge so when you hold it by this handle it doesn't hang straight. Just a bit odd.

When ever I want shooting versatility but don't need my laptop, I carry this bag. It does the job nicely and, best of all, it's not weighing me down and making me uncomfortable. Recommended.

The reason that I bought this particular bag was because I wanted something different than your usual camera bag. Usually, you can buy some generic bag from the store, or you can get a slightly upgraded version from the manufacturer.

But this bag is different. It isn't your typical Camera bag with multiple small and useless compartments that wont help you do anything. It is simply a camera bag that is shaped like a messenger bag - that concept in itself was completely new to me. Included are multiple inserts for this bag with velcro on the sides. The inserts are adjustable to accomodate your camera even with a small telephoto lens attached. The camera is 'mounted' as you set it in side on two of these support adjustments and the lens simply 'hangs' while still being attached to the camera.

There are three columns that come with the inserts already in place. While you are free to change it, I left it as is and placed my camera on the middle column, and two lenses on either side. Each column is large enough to accomodate two smaller lenses, or one telephoto lens each.

Included are just three main pockets: one on the camera bag flap, which I found useful for storing the cords that I used often; one on the side that easily accomodates a cell phone or Ipod or other accessory; and one on the front, as shown in the picture. I can hold any accesories that you may need: memory cards, flash drives, ipods, expo discs, UV filters. I actually used it for a small point and shoot that I had just in case.

Also included is a fabric on the back of the case that allows you to hook the case over the bag of your upright luggage for trips to the airport where you have to roll your biggest luggage thing around everywhere.

I bought this because I wanted a case that didn't look like a camera case, and I got just that. I could walk down the street and no one would think differently that I had a camera, or just papers inside of it. It is smaller than your typical messenger bag, but for someone like me who doesn't like to carry a lot of stuff around: it works great.

I don't recommend this case if you're anything more than an Obsessed Amateur who needs to carry around multiple lenses and other gear, because it isn't made to carry a lot: just the basics.

Cons: there is no handle on the top of the bag. There is a shoulder strap, and also a handle on the side, so that it is carried at a 45 degree angle when picked up. It would've been nice to have one on top.

the pockets on the inside (shown) weren't very well made. They were too lose, and most stuff that i would put in there would just fall out anyway, so I didn't use the puches, just the zip pocket.

the shoulder strap could've been longer. At it's fullest length, it was a bit short.

I was looking for a lighter weight bag for days I don't want to carry my entire backpack. I first purchased the Lowepro Nova 170AW, and while the features and size were great, I couldn't help but feel like I had an insulated lunch cooler around my shoulder. The Tamrac looks inconspicous and is a great size for comfortably carrying my big Canon 50D with lens on, a couple of additional lenses, flash, filters, etc.
CONS: Wish the strap attached via swivels instead of being sewed directly to the bag as I foresee the strap twisting getting annoying (and it DOES twist). The top flap attached by one buckle is the only thing keeping the gear in the bag. This is great for easy access, but it would be nice if there was an option to zip the compartment shut for added safety. Also, I wouldn't feel overly comfortable if I was caught in the rain with this bag, as the sides of the flap are somewhat exposed.

Overall, a good looking bag that will see plenty of use from me.

I like this bag, It is well thought out as I can fit a Nikon D40 with 18-55 kit lens attatched, a 70-200 F/2.8 along with a SB600 Flash. Have room to fit another small lens to spare. Like others said it is a bit small wish it was just a inch or so bigger and then could of fit also My D90 I just upgraded to in bag. As it is Flash got moved out. A little more padding would help but seems fairly protected if your not doing anything to severe. Comfortable to carry and everything is easy to get to. Will be moving to larger bag soon, but see myself using this bag for some time.

love this bag. comfortable to wear, carries the perfect amount of gear for walking around, and best of all it doesn't scream "camera bag". definitely room for everything in the description. the cellphone pocket is kind of useless, but i can fit a lot into the front pocket. a great bag, especially for the price

On thursday Mar 12 I received the Tamrac Adventure 4 camera bag from Amazon.
This is a great camera bag. I put my Nikon D60 in the bag with the kit lens attached, and had room for
my Coby 7 inch portable DVD player plus battery chargers for both. And there is room for 2 additional
lenses. Also in the front pocket I put extra battery, extra memory cards, and lens cleaning stuff.
I recommend this bag for anyone looking for a good quality camera bag. The material it's made from looks
like it can take a beating. And there is plenty of room for anything you may need. It fits comfortably and
it's easy to access the contents without removing the bag.
If you're thinking about this bag, buy it it's really great. Willie

I finally found a camera bag that is deep enough to hold my gorillapod tripod with enough space for my DSLR with one lens attached and another lens in the bag. There is also room for another lens if I desire. Plus plenty of room for filters, memory cards and a small notebook.

This bag was exactly what I was looking for to be able to hike with my tripod and my camera all in one. Plus all my gear is easily accessible and the bag adds hardly any weight to my gear.

I really like this bag. I use it to shoot for a college paper, and have adjusted the inside to fit a 20D with 28-105 attached, a 50/1.8, and two of the following: 20-35mm, 70-200 2.8IS, flash, and small film body. Plus there's lots of room for accessories. I've noticed little things as well that make this back great, like how the little space for pens, the pocket that perfectly holds a small notebook, and a cell phone pocket always right by my left hand (a photojournalists dream!)
There is one issue with this bag, which is when you load it up with all that stuff and go walk around for several hours, it can take a toll on your shoulder. On really long days I'll switch the side I carry it on midway through (which can feel awkward if you don't do it often).
It's a really great bag. Just keep in mind how much you're loading into it and how long you plan to be hauling it around.

This was purchased for my husband at Christmas. He is very pleased with this bag. He says he can fit his camera and one extra lens comfortably. It seems well made. I feel that I made a good choice.

Very convenient, fits the camera and 3-5 lenses depending on the lens, comfortable to carry, provides good protection of the equipment
