Great for wedding, amazing zoom...
(Source: www.bhphotovideo.com)
I just got this camera and shot some footage at my in-laws wedding. The only problem is now I want to transfer it to my PC to burn to disc before they leave the country. I don't have the USB cable.Sony uses a proprietary USB cable, therefore I can't find it at any [...], or any other electronics store.Sony never uses standard cables. You will have to special order any cable you need.Besides that they use a proprietary "memory stick" which costs 4 times as a standard SD cardI HATE SONY!!!!!! I WILL NEVER OWN A SONY PRODUCT!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!!Apparently they didn't learn their lesson with the Beta Tape.

Check the reviews online, this product has serious technical problems, especially with the PMB. Overal it is a good product but you can't write on CD/DVD.
You cannot write or move pictures or movies on CD/DVD; an error will always come up. If you manage to write then you will have problems retrieving them. I bought this product on Christmas and I am still not able to export my files. I called Sony and they spent many days working on it , it is still not fixed. I will return the product.
I own an old Handycam vision video Hi8 (with tape), it never gave me any problem.

We had a Sony camcorder before this one but it was dying. This model gave us the chance for going dihital. We have been recording our family's advetures for over 30 years and this camera is a great addition. We had searched for a better price and no one was within [$] of the price that we purchased it for.

I picked up my grandkids from the airport, one is 7 and the other one is 10 months old. I wanted to record every precious minute we have with them. On Tuesday night December 7,2010 we stopped at the large blue and white Super W Store and bought this Sony DCR-SR68 Camcorder. After taxes I think it was $353.. At the register I was offered an extended service plan and we decided not to buy. We got home late that night so I put the battery on the charger. The next morning right after breakfast I read the manual and was ready to shoot some video footage and take a few pictures. After 30 minutes it went back in the box and I drove 18 miles back to the large blue and white Super W Store and returned that Sony DCR-SR68 Camcorder.
Oh my God what a JOKE, I can't believe Sony of all company's would put their name on such a POS.. Sony has always, always had top-notch electronics. And to think they would even consider having their name on a camera that doesn't even belong in a junk barrel is beyond me, I am appalled. I would not spend $75. on this camera to give to my grandkids, it's pathetic. If it took beautiful digital movie footage and crappy still photos I'd keep it just for the movie footage and buy another digital camera. In 1999 folks yea 11 years ago I paid $700 for a new super 8 Panasonic PVL 859 Camcorder and it took the exact same still photos, 640x480 resolution. The still photos were not all that great but it was new technology and it was neat, no film. But the video was crisp clear and full of color. And I captured excellent footage of my wife's late father and grandmother. Then later on in 2000 I bought an Olympus C-700 a 2.1 mega-pixel camera that took awesome pictures 1600x1200 resolution. Even the short video my 10-year-old Olympus is much better than this new Sony. The pictures on these Sony cameras are all fuzzy whether it's taking still photos or movies. Don't waste your money or time on this camera. Sony's idea of technology is like making a plastic bicycle and calling it a Harley. You can't even laugh at the thought, shame on you Sony, just keep financing the big Hollywood Movies and let the professionals make real Digital Camcorders. For the viewers who rated this camera higher than a 2, this is probably their first digital camera of any kind. And if they discover what crisp video is I doubt Sony will get another purchase from them either. On one final note, if the department stores want anyone to spend a decent sum of money for any camera there needs to be a more of a friendlier environment at the time of purchase. I would have no problem bringing my laptop in the store and taking a pictures and maybe a two-minute video so I could download it and see the quality before I made my purchase. That's how I bought my Olympus camera. I compared it against one other camera and the Olympus had the better quality. I really hope this help anyone looking for any camera still or video. Good luck.

Found size and ease of use exceptional and love this camera and the low light features. Nearly all other camera I have owned became grainy and poor image as the sun was going down. This camera maintains great quality.

I love this camera. I am a high school basketball coach and I can put an entire season on the hard drive without filling it up. The recording is crystal clear and the camera is easy to handle and use.

very easy to use, great zoom......

everything about this camcorder is great - easy to use, no tapes or cards, easy download to my laptop, very good images, small, light, lots of functions to help adapt to nearly any shooting condition. this is a near perfect camcorder. Have yet to find a flaw.

I teach broadcast media and I purchase camcorders every year for my program. I've used B&H for years and have always been satisfied! Every camcorder is great. I prefer Sonys because they wear better. The extended warranty is a plus and B&H offers the best. This camcorder has touchscreen, great video quality and relatively easy menus. Hard drive space is a must in this one is great!

I bought this camcorder to replace an outdated cassette type, and used it for two different occassions so far with good success. We went on vacation to Puerto Rico, and it captured the scenery and memories excellently! Our son had his first soccer game today, and was very pleased playing it back on our 65" plasma tv when we got home. Being children, the game lasted about 40 minutes, and the battery lasted for the whole game and playback on the tv with one bar left on the battery life. The mic picked up the sounds of the game well, but due to the windiness of the day, there's a lot of rustling on the playback. The photos the camcorder takes isn't nearly the same quality as a digital camera. The PC software installs with the normal install wizard, and is easy to use. Good options on the video editing features. The price and extended warranty together was the same as Best Buy's WITHOUT the warranty.

I use this product to video Family events & my hunting excursions regularly. The camera is lightweight, compact & very easy to use. The only thing I wish it would do is have the fader remain in the on mode all the time. It is a pain to constantly turn the fader on. Otherwise this is a very fine product.

We recieved this camera for my 15 year gift at my company. It works well for being free, but I personally would not have bought one that is not HD. The picture quality is so so, but the blue color is beautiful. If your not the type who cares about picture quality or are on a budget, I would say it's a good camera for you.

After using a VHS camera for so long I love the compact size. It's easy to hold and my arm & hand don't get tired. It takes great videos and the sound quality is good. I haven't taken any still pics yet, so I don't know how good they are. It is much easier to follow the action. You don't have to watch everything through the lens of the camera. The camera's small size makes it easier to carry. I can carry both my video and digital cameras in one bag.

I read several reviews before making the purchase. As always one likes and one dislikes. The battery that comes with it doesn't last long at all. If you look at the box it say's up to 13 hours of life. That is if you buy a extra $100 battery. The one that comes with it isn't offered in stores(NP-FV30)You can buy a NP-FV50 for $60 or a NP-FV100 for $100.It has a very good zoom but use a tripod as you can't hold it steady. It is easy to burn a DVD from the camara. Don't buy the camara for good quality still pictures, it won't happen. It does take very good videoand that is what I bought it for. I think for what I paid for it they should supply a better battery.

I have owned a few Sony Handycams in the past and was always pleased with them, but this Handycam is awful. Of course the battery that comes with the camera only lasts about an hour before it needs to be recharged if you are using the camera a lot. The picture quality is awful, my Sony CCD-TRV118 Hi8 Handycam has better picture quality and more functions than the Sony DCR-SR68. The Sony DCR-SR68 doesn't even have a remote control, it's 2010 how about giving us something. I noticed when you use the telephoto on the Sony DCR-SR68 you can hear the motor when you play back what you have recorded. When I installed the software for the Sony DCR-SR68 on my computer it actually caused a lot of problems, my computer is fine now that I uninstalled the software. In my opinion the Sony DCR-SR68 is only good for use as a paperweight. I definitely wasted my money on this camcorder, I can't even get rid of it no one wants it.
bought this to record my new baby's moments and it was definetly a great buy! it works great, just what I expected and the price was lower than anywhere else!

Have used this camera for about a month and it is what I wanted it to be. Great picture and sound, easy to use and hook up to TV and computer....plenty of record time with the hard drive...no discs to finalize and run out of time on...money well spent.
